Here at NIOT, we know that storytelling is a critical part of our activism. On June 8, we streamed a webinar for journalists and bloggers, produced in partnership with the Solutions Journalism Network. The topic is "complicating the narratives." In this episode, we examine how the tragic killing of Khalid Jabara, a young man who was murdered by his next door neighbor in a hate crime, prompted a call for vital changes in hate crime law and reporting. New legislation, The Jabara-Heyer NO HATE Act, passed last week in Senate, would improve hate crime reporting and expand assistance and resources for hate crime victims.
