President Biden signed the Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act in law on May 20, after a rare bipartisan vote in both the Senate and the House to advance the bill to his desk. The legislation is aimed at bolstering efforts to combat rising anti-Asian hate crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this episode, we examine how the tragic killing of Khalid Jabara, a young man who was murdered by his next door neighbor in a hate crime, prompted a call for vital changes in hate crime law and reporting. New legislation, The Jabara-Heyer NO HATE Act, passed last week in Senate, would improve hate crime reporting and expand assistance and resources for hate crime victims.
