San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón introduces “Light in the Darkness” at the SF screening and community discussion earlier this month.   With incidents of hate crime on the rise, communities all over America are searching for ways to address it. The Bay Area is not immune to hate crime, and that brought local officials and activists together in San Francisco for a community screening of a documentary about how another town fought back.

Over the last year, schools throughout the US have experienced a frightening increase in bullying and acts of hate. Each year, schools across the US participate in bullying prevention activities during the month of October. This year, when hate is on the rise, our greatest challenge is to acknowledge the problem of hate and bullying and move toward welcoming, identity safe, and inclusive schools.
