My name is Jenna Waldman and I am a rising senior at the Urban School of San Francisco. During the year, I am a reporter for my school’s paper The Urban Legend and currently the editor of sports and special projects. In my free time, I love playing sports, and I am a member of my school’s basketball and soccer teams.

I was drawn to Not in Our Town and Not in Our School because of the universal message that everybody needs to stand up and stop hate. Whether you have experienced bullying in the lunch line at your school or witnessed a major hate crime damage your community, we can all join together to overcome hate no matter what you look like or where you come from.

At NIOT, I am working in the community outreach to department to represent the student voice behind issues of acceptance and overcoming hate.  As the future of America, it is the youth that must learn from the tragedies around the country and build a safer society free of hate and intolerance.
